VIDEO: Joel Osteen – The Smile of Deception by LetUsReason.org

DESCRIPTION: What are Joel Osteen’s beliefs based on, what has made him one of the most watched and popular TV preachers? Because of peoples lack of discernment they are unable to recognize what is obviously wrong. The teachings of Joel Osteen are biblically light and often out of context. Joel Osteen’s open ended spiritual inclusiveness is misleading many. Osteen’s teaching combines positive thinking and Kenneth Hagin’s positive confession with The Secret. He has it based on word faith teaching that he learned from his father. His positive thinking and confession visualization techniques that are aligned with “the Secret” that Oprah promotes. He is promoting decreeing, creating by words; word faith declarations with Visualization. All this amounts to a dangerous mix that departs from Biblical teaching into new age/mysticism. Numerous video clips with powerpoint presentations, makes it clear what has made Lakewood the largest church in America.

MY COMMENTS: Regular readers and subscribers to this blog have probably noticed that I have been posting allot about Joel Osteen lately. Over the years I have tried to focus more on WoF teachings rather than WoF teachers because I figured that would be a better strategy to possibly reach those who have personal affinities for certain WoF teachers. But that changed when Osteen appeared on Oprah Winfreys TV show and I saw that as an opportunity for people who like Joel a whole lot, and other WoF teachers, to more easily see that the WoF Power of Words/Positive Confession teaching as what it really is – Occultism, New Age Teaching and Witchcraft veiled in Christian terms. So I thought I would make a few more post on Joel and the subject and be done with it but then I heard Joel and TD Jakes were “advisers” on the History Channels mini-series “The Bible” and that it was getting rave reviews – so you can expect more post here on this blog on the subject of the Occultic Roots of the WoF.

You’ll probably be surprised to learn that while the producers of The Bible mini-series claim to be Christian, they are also inundated with New Age Teaching and Roma Downey was even featured on the cover of a very popular New Age Magazine and she graduated with a Masters Degree from a New Age School in California. I will be writing a post on that mini-series soon and it will help you understand why in the first episode God supposedly told Abraham that He was going to use him to “change the World” and why in the shows promo video Christ Jesus tells the Apostle Peter that He “needs him to help change the World”.

This video is over an hour long but very well worth your time. Please notice that around the 10 minute mark it shows video footage of Joel admitting that “it is not his gifting” to write books about the details of Bible Theology, but that has not stopped him from being an “adviser” to a TV show on the Bible and publishing his own Study Bible which contain what he calls “hope notes”.
