Are all healed? Is there Absolute Healing in the Atonement?

Absolute Healing in the Atonement

jesus 22I believe there is no truth to be found in teaching that healing is for everyone. Much of this is based on false teaching as we find the word of God once again has been taken out of context. Many are not healed and we do not have a reason why that happens.  Instead of accepting that some of us will be sick because we live in a fallen world, we tell others healing is part of the salvation process.  It is not.  Our salvation is free upon asking.  If healing was meant to be in the atonement, it would happen the same way.  And, yes, the Greek word used in the New Testament for saved and healed is sozo. However, the word never says all will be healed, just as all will not be saved.

Please note, that many of the disciples were sick and a quick read through the New Testament will prove that.  Paul was not healed and here are his thoughts:

2 Corinthians 12:8-10

8 Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. 9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

So many times I have heard people say that Paul was not sick.  Why, when the scripture above clearly states he was and remained so?

Jesus came to earth as a man.  He was weak, ordinary and vulnerable.  He suffered as a man so that he could identify with us in every area of our humanness.

Philippians 2:7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.

Hebrews 4:15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.

When we tell others salvation is in the atonement and they have a “right” to their healing, and tell them that there is a reason they are not being healed, we send them on an internal rampage to find out why that is – did they not pray right, with the right words, did they not rebuke the devil enough, often enough, in the right manner, did the person praying for them not speak the right words or have enough faith, was their own attitude or heart not in the right place, is there unforgiveness, bitterness, anger or jealousy, is there a lack of faith…on and on it goes. It is all based on what they do, or in this case, what they speak. We are teaching people to work for their healing, to pray specifically, to “receive their healing” or to pray to “keep their healing”.  We are not taught any of this in the word. How closely this resembles another false teaching involving a false prophet that make people work for salvation!

When Jesus brought healing He did so simply; He did not go through a long list of reasons for repentance, He did not run through their generational line to find the curse. To teach otherwise is unscriptural  How many people can you think of that are in a healing ministry of some sort, or who believe healing is in the atonement have died of an illness or disease? How many likewise have been hospitalized for injuries or are sick and have been for many years?

This entire Word of Faith/Prosperity teaching causes people to believe in a god that does not exist.  When the promise of the “blessing” or “healing” or “prosperity” does not come as promised they become mad at God or wonder why God does not do for them what has been claimed. We are not promised a good life here.  We are told of much tribulation and if there is any doubt, we can read about the experiences of the disciples.

John 16:33 These things I have spoken to you that in Me you will have peace. In the world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.

Remember, Job was a Godly man who suffered tremendously.  All of the counsel of his friends proved to be wrong by God’s own words!

Job 38:1-21 Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said: 2 “Who is this who darkens counsel by words without knowledge?”

God is to be given the glory in all situations, not just in healthy ones.  And yes, God still heals people today! He alone knows the beginning to the end, and the “why’s” of all things. I don’t know why people continue to teach such things.  Maybe its money, maybe fame.  Whatever the reason it is false, false, false – words without knowledge.
